Masteries would work as usual, but the ones that give abilities like mounts and gliding would have an extra step to activate, requiring you to spend hero points to 'learn' them. Those that unlock features like legendary crafting and Autoloot would remain fully account-wide as usually and not require hero points to use.

Level Boosts. Level 80 Boosts come with the expansions and can also be bought in the gemstore. These boost your character directly to level 80 in addition to granting them a basic set of starting gear. The gear and build granted to you by a level 80 boost is typically very poor but will suffice while you get your start as a fresh level 80.

You dont necessarily get "stronger" in Gw2 aside from elite specializations and ascended gear. If you haven't unlocked your elite specializations, you can work on that, they have hero point trains a lot in the Looking for Group expansion maps, you might have to scan all of them to find a group.

The guide is intended to level faster, since you only get a boost in XP, when you finish them, and i think this is reduced, when reaching level 80, since you don't need to level anymore. So doing those achievements after hitting level 80 is kind of pointless. before hitting level 80 one volume gives like 100k points. after lvl 80 they only give 7k.

ENDGAME PROGRESSION REIMAGINED THE MASTERY SYSTEM. The Mastery system is a new approach to endgame progression. It represents a new way to grow your characters once they've hit level 80, and it does away with the traditional gear and level grind that leaves a content wasteland and widens the gap between new and veteran players.
when you HAVE enough mastery points and the bar is full, then the bar will blink like crazy and tell you to spend your mastery points. however, if your bar is full, but you don't have enough mastery points, the bar will not blink. even after getting the mastery points, it will not remind you to spend them. 130. Additional hero points can be found and earned through Tyria, HoT and PoF maps (but not Living World maps). Tyria HP are everywhere, but only provide 1 point. PoF and HoT HP are much less, but provide 10 HP each. While your higher level gear, weapons and amount of skills/available skills/trait points & hero points all play a major role in how fast you can kill the lower level stuff it still makes it much harder being around the mobs level. Whereas in other MMO games you're able to backtrack and own 400 mobs at once in lower level areas. The hearts are there simply to warm you up to playing the game. As you guys get into higher level maps, you will see fewer and fewer hearts til you get to the Orr maps, which have no hearts.
